Overview

The SAAFoST Foundation has made available one postgraduate scholarship (THE KOEPPEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP) valued at twenty five thousand rand (R25 000) for each study year towards tuition fees.

In the case where a student already has a bursary or other awards which cover part or all of the tuition fees, the scholarship shall be applied towards educational purposes limited to academic conferences, study materials, and research, but only with the prior written approval.

Only the Tertiary Institutions listed may nominate candidates for this scholarship. Names of students registered for Masters or Doctorate degrees in the Departments of Food Science at the following universities:

• Universities of Stellenbosch
• Universities of Pretoria
• Universities of Venda and the
• Universities of Free State or the Departments of Food Technology at the
• Durban University of Technology
• Cape Peninsula University of Technology
• Tshwane University of Technology
• University of Johannesburg

Nominations may be submitted by the respective Department Heads as candidates for this award. Each department may nominate only one candidate.

Selection Criteria

The elected student must have been a member of SAAFoST for at least two consecutive years preceding the application. Nominations and recommendations are based on academic excellence in previous degree results must reach the SAAFoST Membership Development Officer by 15 February.
